Dreams Do Come True – Kat Simmons, Winner of the 2009 eWomenNetwork Talent Contest

2009 eWomenNetwork's Got Talent Winner, Kat Simmons

2009 eWomenNetwork's Got Talent Winner, Kat Simmons with eWomenNetwork Founder, Sandra Yancey

Kat Simmons sat in the green room before the 2009 eWomenNetwork’s Got Talent show, writing notes and mentally rehearsing before taking her place on stage.

“I knew it had all come down to this moment,” she recalls. “I knew I had to establish a connection quickly and that I had to be authentic. I am those women (in the audience).  I am their voice.

For those of you lucky enough to be there to see it with me, you know Kat’s performance was outstanding!!  It’s no surprise that offers and opportunities have been pouring in since the event.

Kat was recently profiled in Nevada’s Record-Courier in a much deserved re-cap of her hilarious performance.  Check that out … and then check out the video of her performance for a true repeat performance and a GREAT laugh.

Congratulations Kat — thanks for showing us that “Dreams Really Do Come True!”

My Top 3 Favorite Things from Conference

What an amazing time at Conference!  Now that Conference is over, I’m focused on following-up with all of the great connections I made, while not forgetting the spirit and energy we all shared during the event.

Here’s my Top 3 Favorite Things from Conference:

1.  Unity – it is awesome to be involved in an organization of motivated, positive, moving-forward business women where we can lift each other up through the challenges and celebrate each other’s successes.  This is true year-round, but at Conference I got to see it in action on an hourly basis.

2.  Giving Back – Unlike any other business networking group I’m involved with, eWomenNetwork focuses on giving first – the Gala on Thursday night and the spirit of giving is the “why” behind why I’m involved with eWomenNetwork.

3.  Girlfriends!  It’s much more fun to get a pedicure when a girlfriend shows up!  It’s a tremendous feeling to know that I’m building lasting friendships with some of the most amazing women on the planet, while building my business too.

What are YOUR Top 3 Favorites?

Let me hear from you in the comments below!

eWomenNetwork Conference Update

Wow – what an amazing day at the eWomenNetwork Conference!   All of the speakers were tremendous today.  We heard from Debbie Meyer, Inventor of Debbie Meyer™ Green Bags® as she shared her story about creating products that solve problems that she has had in her life.

Next we heard from Loral Langemeier about how to “Put more cash in our pockets” – I heard Loral speak last year in a break-out session, and he was even more dynamic on the main stage this year.

It was hard to choose between all of the terrific break-out sessions offered!  I attended Linda Clemons break-out entitled “The Power, Persuasive, Seductive Art of Sellng” (WOW – she is a powerhouse of information and strategies for closing the deal!)  Then it was on to my fellow main-stage presenter for tomorrow, Mari Smith’s presentation on how to use Facebook and Twitter to grow your business.  Dubbed the Pied Piper of Facebook by Fast Company Magazine, she is a dynamic speaker and a warm, funny gal to get to know!

We heard from Sheryl Westad from Intuit (did you know that some folks can type 60 words per minute on their cell phones – amazing!) and Kathy Daly-Jennings from Google about how to employ Adwords in your business.

The presentations closed with fellow Minnesotan, Robert Stephens from The Geek Squad presenting about “Your Business Online” — for a self-professed “geek” he certainly is funny; I can see how that sense of humor has helped him build the huge organization he has created.  I caught up with Robert after his talk along with a couple of my Minnesota girlfriends (pictured below).

It’s off to Nordstroms tonight for shopping and fun … see you there!

IMPORTANT CHANGE: New Hashtag for Twitter Use!

Real quick – just wanted to get the word out to everyone that we are changing the Twitter Hashtag for use during the conference to #eWN … so, instead of using #ewomen in all of your tweets, please use this hashtag:  #eWN

It’s going great here, the buzz is starting — I’m going down to the Expo in a few minutes, as they have been busily setting up all day.  The complimentary coaching sessions have been fantastic.  Can’t wait for the official start of the conference tonight!!

Reminder – Use Twitter During the eWomenNetwork Conference

I just arrived in Dallas today for the 9th Annual eWomenNetwork International Conference & Business Expo, and it is shaping up to be an AWESOME conference!  There is a buzz in the air already about all of the exciting events and presenters – and the conference hasn’t even officially started yet!

I took advantage of the Pranaa Spa offering — purchases benefit the eWomenNetwork Foundation — and had a relaxing, deep-tissue massage that was incredible!  I am relaxed and ready to go for this year’s Conference.

Which reminds me — for those of you “Tweeters” out there, please remember to use Twitter during the Conference as a way to stay connected.  Just use the hashtag, “#ewomen” in your Tweets; that way, anyone wanting to connect with others attending the Conference can just search for that hashtag and easily connect.

Also – on Saturday, August 8th at 11AM CST, we want to take Twitter by storm and attempt to show up in the “Trending Topics” on Twitter, giving great exposure around the world to eWomenNetwork.  To help with this, please schedule or send a Tweet at 11AM on Saturday … more details about how to do this can be found here.

If you’re at the Conference, I look forward to meeting you!  If you’re not here at Conference, watch this blog for updates and photos — I’ll be posting updates here throughout the Conference.
